Adopt an Orangutan

The Orangutan Conservancy is offering an exciting new way to learn about orangutans and to offer your support to our organization’s conservation efforts. Our adoption program is designed to allow you to get to know a little more about an individual orangutan’s personality and the issues they are facing in the wild…

• Asapa
• Mawas
• Roman

Right now, you can learn more about Asapa or Mawas, orphaned orangutans trying to make their way back into the forest with the help of Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Reintroduction Center. Or you can learn about Roman, a wild adult male living in Gunung Palung National Park, whose fragile forest ecosystem is threatened by illegal logging. By “adopting” either of these featured individuals, you will be helping all of the orangutans touched by The Orangutan Conservancy’s support.

Each adoption packet contains a photo, a certificate, and the orangutan’s personal story, as well as information about our organization. An adoption packet makes a great gift for a friend or family member who loves animals, and is an educational and exciting way for classrooms to fundraise while learning more about orangutan conservation issues. New individuals will be featured periodically. Please note: money raised from this program goes to support the activities of The Orangutan Conservancy. Adoption does not imply ownership or rights to the individual orangutan; it is simply a wonderful way to learn about an individual while helping all orangutans. The prices for adoption are as follows:

• Asapa (infant) - $50
• Mawas (infant)- $50
• Roman (adult male) - $50

Please make your check or money order payable to The Orangutan Conservancy and send your gift along with the name and address of your recipient. OR you can use the PayPal buttons underneath the pictures to pay with a credit card.

When ordering, please tell us:

1. the name of the individual or group receiving the packet
2. the correct address so we can send the packet directly to the recipient
3. If this is a gift, please also tell us the name of the person or people giving the gift, so we can include it on the certificate.
